Lionsgate Eyes Academy Award Winning Writer Simon Beaufoy To Script Catching Fire


Deadline is reporting that Lionsgate is planning a second installment of The Hunger Games. The studio is eyeing Slumdog Millionaire writer Simon Beaufoy to write Catching Fire. Deadline also added that Gary Ross will be directing the sequel. Although, negotiations haven’t begun yet, Lionsgate is pushing hard for the  Award Winning-writer. Aside from Slumdog Millionaire, his works also include 127 Hours, The Full Monty and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.

Santa Monica, CA, August 08, 2011– LIONSGATE® (NYSE: LGF), a leading global entertainment company, announced today that it will release CATCHING FIRE, the film adaptation of the second book in Suzanne Collins’ runaway bestselling HUNGER GAMES trilogy, on November 22, 2013. The announcement was made by Joe Drake, co-COO of Lionsgate and President of its Motion Picture Group. No further details about CATCHING FIRE have been confirmed at this stage.
